I was born in a military hospital on October 31st just half an hour shy of midnight. There, my older sister and parents were waiting to share their lives with me. For most of my childhood, we lived in California where I spent my summers boogie boarding on Hendry's Beach and visiting my two favorite places, the Santa Barbara Museum and the public library. We moved to Texas the latter part of my 6th grade year, where I finished my basic education in Texas, graduating 3rd in my high school class and loving UIL competitions.

I went on to college at Texas A&M University, where I majored in business, with a focus on marketing. My last year of college was also when I met my husband. After we moved to Austin, Texas, we were engaged for a year before getting married in Las Vegas. So, this is where my life is now. I still keep in touch with my parents (who also live in Austin) and my sister (who now lives in Japan while her husband is stationed there).

I've been a member of the SCBWI since 2003 and am one of the original members of AS IF! (Authors Supporting Intellectual Freedom), an ever-expanding group of authors championing those who stand against censorship, especially of books for and about teens. I've appeared in the national publications For Me, Audrey, and East West. I'm represented by Michelle Andelman of the Andrea Brown Literary Agency.
